Most hikers that make a trip to summit Mount Kinabalu often do not plan enough time to visit the other areas around Kinabalu National Park such as Kundasang, Ranau and Poring. There is a lot of natural beauty to behold and activities to partake, so join us on this trip specifically planned to allow guests the time to take in the view and explore these otherwise forgotten areas.

The rustic feel of Kundasang reminds one of Cameron Highlands before it is taken over by farmlands. On a clear day, it is possible to see the iconic profile of Mt Kinabalu from Kundasang.

Desa Dairy Farm is just behind Kundasang, at Mesilau. The cool weather and lush meadows at Mesilau allow New Zealand Holstein Friesian cattle to be kept. These cattle produce a high yield of quality milk. Their locally produced milk, cheese and gelato are a must try.

Further downhill from Kundasang is the quaint town of Ranau. We will make a stop at the Sabah Tea Plantation to try their amazing milk tea and scones. We will also dip our legs in cool and refreshing Sg Morili at Kg Luanti where the native fish will give you a thorough 'massage' exfoliating your dead skin.

Next, we will head to Poring, where we will make a quick stop to look at some Rafflesia before entering Poring Hot Spring. Rafflesia keithii is easy to observe at Poring, hiking is not required to see one.

At Poring Hot Springs, we will take a short interpretive walk at the Ethnobotanic Garden before taking a swim at Kipungit Waterfall. If the waterfall is too cold, worry not as we could warm up with a relaxing dip in the hot springs.

Borneo is home to a large number of endemic species found nowhere else on Earth, many of them are found in Kinabalu National Park. Most hikers summiting Mt Kinabalu will be too focused on the goal of reaching the peak to take note of the wildlife within the park.

The reptile and amphibian diversity at Kinabalu National Park is exceptional, and since many are nocturnal they are not seen by the majority of park visitors. So join us on a nightwalk to see these amazing animals, many of them endemic, such as the Kinabalu Sticky Frog, Kinabalu Torrent Frog and Kinabalu Horned Frog.

On the last day of our visit we will take a relaxing stroll through Silau-Silau Trail within Kinabalu National Park to really take in the beauty of the park before heading back to Kota Kinabalu and catching a flight home.

** Dorms separated by males and females.
