Kuching, the charming capital of Sarawak named after the Malay word for Cat. This laid back city is the perfect destination for any nature lover as it is driving distance from several forest destinations such as Bako National Park, Kubah National Park, Matang Wildlife Reserve and Semenggoh Nature Reserve. Join us on a 3 day 2 night excursion to explore Kuching and these wonderful nature parks.

After touching down in Kuching, we will visit Matang Wildlife Center, a dedicated wildlife center which houses endangered species confiscated from illegal pet keepers. Here they are rehabilitated for eventual reintroduction into the wild. Other than Orang Utans, other confiscated animals such as Hornbills, Sambar Deer, Crocodiles, Sun Bears and Bear Cats are also housed here.

We would then return to Kuching for an early dinner and proceed to Kubah National Park to visit to the famous Frog Pond, which is a must go destination for all frog lovers. In 2014, the frog calls at the Frog Pong famously won "The Most Beautiful Sound in the World Competition".

At the Frog Pond you will find literally hundreds of frogs in a good night. Several species of frogs such as the beautiful Harlequin Flying Tree Frog, File-eared Tree Frog and Bornean Horned Frog can be regularly found at the Pond, hanging out on the boardwalk, at the water's edge and the vegetation throughout.

Early the next day, we will visit Semenggoh Nature Reserve, where the rehabilitated orphaned or rescued Orangutans from Matang Wildlife Center are released into the surrounding forest. We will arrive early to observe the morning feeding session where semi-wild Orangutans may return for a free meal. Many have been succesfully reintroduced into the wild and may not return.

After lunch we will visit Bako National Park, a coastal park that contains various forest types including swamps, kerengas, lowland dipterocarp forests, mangroves forest and cliff vegetation. Wildlife are abundant throughout Bako, we are very likely to see Bornean Bearded Pigs, Bornean Keeled Pit Vipers and the iconic Proboscis Monkeys - especially in the evening.

We will then enjoy a wonderful seafood dinner and take a leisurely walk along the Kuching's Waterfront. Those that have not been to Kuching in awhile will be pleased to find that it has received a facelift, the 900 m long esplanade is now lined with charming restaurants and food stalls. The Darul Hana Bridge completed in 2017 now connects the Waterfront with the northern shore making it easier to visit the DUN Petra Jaya Building.

Of course, no trip to Kuching will be complete without a bowl of Sarawak Laksa. We will take a walkabout around Kuching town to sample local delicacies, do some shopping and take in the view. And yes, we will have a chance to take photos at the iconic cat statues in Kuching. So do come on our 3 day 2 night jaunt on 26-28 October 2019! Book now as spaces are limited to 18 people. This trip is family-friendly.
